CS373 Fall 2019 Week 5

What did you do this past week?

This week our team started to write our proposal and discussing our website subject. On Wednesday, GCP has people coming in our session introducing their program to us and I have thoughts about applying to that program after. We learned more about python, reduce and other functions on Monday and Friday. They are somewhat confusing but I have printed copy of lecture notes and have figured them out. I’m pretty confident about my next quiz!

What’s in your way?

To be honest, we have not yet finished our proposal because our team found that there is already another team proposing relatively the same idea of our website so we are changing our proposal to a whole different one.

What will you do next week?

I am planning to finish that by the end of the weekend and start to actually write website page by next week and turn that in on time. I am also planning to finish my screenshot soon, I have been procrastinating for that because it is, as usual, a one-hour test and I am worried that I will bomb that test and not get that opportunity. That is a company I like a lot so I want to be fully prepared for that. I may do that on Wednesday or Monday because I have a whole afternoon available that time and I am going to fully prepare for that.

What was your experience in learning about for in, iterators, and reduce()? (this question will vary, week to week)

I have never been using iterators before, nor do I with try and exception. I have learned a lot about those during classes and they are really handy in use. I have been searching for other basic structure of Python so I could know more about that. reduce() is useful and it’s the same interpretation with for loop in some sense. But we have learned in class that for loop is fast, and reduce() is even faster. Try and an exception is super slow and while the loop is even slower.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week will be a website called CodeSignal. It’s a website that much like other coding test website and it’s widely used among a lot of companies. It has some different features that are not the same as other coding websites and they are really cool!
