Expense Reports at No Expense

We took the approach of building a B2B enterprise software product to automate expense tracking for employees, and in less than 18 months of launch, we have tens of thousands of users who no longer look at expense reports with the same amount of frustration and disgust.

Admins are happy and also surprised that they no longer chase employees to submit bills on time.

Making it easy for employees in an enterprise was the first step. We validated our hypothesis that “only when its easy for employees, we can solve the enterprise problem”

In our quest of on-boarding companies, we always saw that the number of individuals, employees who were searching for better ways of tracking expenses were 10x more than the admins and finance team members.

As a B2B SaaS company, we were hyper focussed on solving problems for the enterprise employee, but we kept getting users from all over the world. Being a startup with limited resources, we tried to make the best of both worlds by creating a free trial process and get users to recommend us to their finance teams.

We were surprised by the results of this 3 month long experiment where we have over 100 paying customers, all of them came through employees or single users who were looking for better ways to “Fyle” an expense. We had not built a differentiated product here, but opened the product for anyone to try it. We spoke a lot of users who chose not to sign up for a paid version, and most of them mentioned that they got confused by admin functionality.

In the last 3 months, we also started seeing a huge uptick in users signing up as a result of smart integrations, Google and Microsoft featuring us and we saw an opportunity to provide a much better experience.

This is a free offering and we have already seen early users refer additional users from the same company within 10 days of using the product. The product will come bundled with multiple ways to Fyle an expense

I am immensely proud of my team that has worked tirelessly in shipping this in under a month while making sure all of our enterprise features were shipped on time.

In the coming months, we are launching several “Industry First” features that will take the notch up and get us closer to the problem we are obsessed about solving — “ Remembering to Fyle an Expense”
