I Finally Found A Work Schedule That Works With My PTSD.

Follow your instincts and don’t let anyone call you a snowflake.

We are not taught to find a workplace or a work schedule that suits us. We are taught that everyone has to work the same types of schedules, for the good of the company. Fuck our mental health, our time, and our own limitations. We are taught that we should want to climb some ladder and become a manager or partner…even if we don’t like managing people.

Before Covid, I worked remotely. I enjoyed working remotely, but it was hard to find other remote jobs. Why did I need to work remotely? It was seen as an extra accommodation, not a reasonable request, even though the technology was there.

And for a while, I thought I had to fight these things because that’s how “the world” worked.

Writing online taught me that it didn’t have to be that way. I feel blessed. But writing online is unpredictable. I don’t consistently make enough writing to pay all my bills.
