Twitch Streamer Reviews

If I am remembering gaming as a teenager correctly, everyone bragged about having the latest N64 game, there was a lot of Goldeneye multi-player going on and for the most part we all actually played the games.

Now however, things have massively changed.

Not least because of the ever-rising cost of gaming, but the games themselves are becoming so skilful that only those who commit hard hours get really annoyingly good — casual gaming is more of a struggle as most gaming is online, against real people, real GOOD people with too much time on their tiny little hands.

What the gaming culture has turned towards is more of a passive viewing experience rather than hands on. We watch the “pro” gamers showcase their gaming “might ” against one another, and we tune in each day to see how they’re getting on — this, is a new world of gaming!

Twitch is the biggest platform for streamers. It allows gamers a platform to stream to the world, and as a viewer it allows us to follow and watch our favourites and interact with those we follow, or even pay to subscribe (this gives revenue to the streamers, essentially making gaming their work — what a time to be alive!).

Over the next few months I am going to review Twitch streams, with the ambition that in a few months that I’ll write a fictional Twitch World Cup where I pin one stream against the other, points given for various things they do on stream! This should be interesting…
